Sunday Funday: The Makery Edition

Two Sunday Funday’s in a row with local business owners? YES, PLEASE! This week we headed to The Makery for some crafting fun. The Makery is an arts and craft studio located right here on the Westbank in Marrero, Louisiana! The options over there are limitless! They offer open studio days, classes for kids, ladies’ nights, birthday parties and more! This Friday night they are doing a Slime and Dine night where you drop your kid(s) off from 6-9pm and they make slime and enjoy pizza while you enjoy kid free time. What a great idea and a win-win for all! Personally, I cannot wait to go back and make a personalized charcuterie board. The owners are very kind, creative and welcoming! I also love how special needs friendly they were- they have even hosted sensory friendly events.

Sunday I took Lexi and Abram over to make slime and make a personalized name board. The kids had the best time and didn’t want to leave. The owners are so sweet and very kid friendly. It wasn’t an experience where I had to stress and keep my hands on them at every single second. The kids were able to craft and express their creative side while chatting with friends. They were so mad at me when it was time to leave and have been begging to go back.

They started off with the Slime table. My kids have only made slime maybe once and I think it was a flop so they were stoked. I am not going to lie- I kind of get the slime craze now with how soft and cloud feeling it is! They were able to mix all the ingredients together and choose their color. Then they headed onto the painting table to prepare their boards and paint. They took their time, let their creative juices flow and really knocked it out the park. I was pretty impressed with how they came out!

Lexi actually wants to have her birthday party there this year! The ladies who own it are very creative and have lots of wonderful ideas. It is perfect for everyone because you can go in and choose something to create or reach out to them with ideas that you have. The options are seriously endless. I left there feeling so inspired to create all the things. We will definitely be going back soon to make some more things!
